As I mentioned in a comment on little_wren82's update, I started block 4 yesterday. Pretty proud of myself, counted very carefully for placement and got about a third of it completed, I think.
So when I sat down this afternoon to resume, I noticed something. YOu can see it most clearly in this pic:
See there on the right side of the gold frame, where the black stitches go all the way to the top? They shouldn't. There should be a 2 stitch gap there for more gold framing.
Okay, I thought to myself. Not so bad, I can trim out those two black stitches, secure the floss with Fray Check, and ramble on.
Not so. Not so. I mean yeah, that worked and all, but.
I was kinda weirding out about the placement of this block all afternoon yesterday. It just looked wrong, though I counted and recounted and counted again to be sure I'd gotten the requisite number of stitches into the block. It was only after I fixed that minor boo-boo on the framing that I realized it had directly contributed to the MAJOR F@CK UP in front of me now.
Because of that minor little mistake, the whole fourth block is now two or three stitches too high.

*insert much cursing, wailing, screaming, and gnashing of teeth here*
*sigh*
Those sure are some giant effing frogs croaking down there, eh?
ETA: I don't know if my snipper hand just got tired or what, but in the process of snipping out that block, I accidentally snipped one thread of the fabric. :( Combined with stabbing myself with the snips and getting blood on the fabric, this clearly wasn't my day to stitch.
I think I salvaged the piece. We'll see if my patch holds next time I take this project up. Current Mood: devastated

Oh, sugar. That's how I felt about having to rip out so much of the sky on Tanglewood. My stitchy prayers are with you.

Wish them to somewhere unsavoury... That is what I have been doing but it hasn't been working. I feel your pain. The frogs attacked my frog and I had to pull out a whole petal.
Hugs and hope you manage to fix it up...A seam ripper works wonders if you don't care about salvaging floss...

*nod* I knew I should have gone upstairs after the seam ripper rather than using snips... Ah well. I'm still not quite up to resuming work on BoINK, but I do need to work myself up to it, if only to see if my attempt to patch the damaged fabric held.
I know your fix will work! And won't it be that much more powerful as a piece for you to have given yourself to it so heartily? :)
:) I hope so. One thing is sure -- I won't be giving this one away!
Ahhhhhhhh! Back you evil frogs! Back I say! Leave this dear woman alone to stitch in peace.
*hugs*
Would you like some chocolate? Just don't eat it near the project. ;)
Thanks sweetie. *hugs* As I was saying above, I haven't been able to bring myself to go back to this yet, but I need to, for sure.
It's a lot, but it's do-able. You'll feel so much better when it's finished.
Patience, chocolate and wine wishes to you!
Thanks. Was kind of thinking about looking it over this afternoon, seeing if I can work with the patched part before I get too much farther along. |
